What is happening at Lacken House?

There is building, music, dance, drama, food, fun and entertainment all under one roof! And that is the roof of Lacken House. The whole team is busy sanding walls, cleaning and helping with the construction work while the Global Action team is rehersing for Christmas shows and we are all getting ready for the Grand Opening on November 22nd, 2008. We were blessed with David and Melanie who although came to Rahara for vacation but ended up in helping with practical work. They are a very talented couple and we thoroughly enjoyed the 'blue grass' session after lunch today. We also had Debs, Ruth and GA team present parts of their rehersals to us which was very entertaining. Praise God that we can work and serve in an encouraing environment.

News

Ron and Freda Metcalf who are temporarily based in Tramore came to help out at Lacken House in their mobile home for a week. They fellowship at Tramore Bible Church and came to help with practical work on the property. We are most grateful to God for sending timely help with all the renovation and maintenance work required at the house.
We are in the final stages of completing the offices and hope to move by second week of November 2008. We have the results from the perculation tests and things look positive although some decision have to be made. We would appreciate your continued prayers.
Mike encouraged the team as he shared from Nehemiah 4:14 that although the progress is slow and results are not immediate however we must "remember the LORD, great and awesome". We thank God for His provision and anxious to see His plan unfold as we continue to build Lacken House.

Lacken House Update

Dear friends,

We wanted to thank you all for your prayers and give you an update on our progress with Lacken House.

It's so exciting to see how far God has brought us in such a short space of time. To think that only last year we had only a couple of thousand euros raised for a ministry base that would cost over one million euros. We knew that this was the way that the Lord was leading us but we had no clue how God was going to supply our needs. Our fund raising strategy has been on our knees.

Since then we have seen about ONE THIRD of the money raised we still have a long way to go but we are confident that the Lord will continue to meet our needs and help us to get this place established for His glory.

What used to be a guest house and bridal boutique will in a way still be used to prepare a very special "Bride" (the church!!) for a very special "Wedding". Praise the Lord!!!

Well the work continues and we more than ever need your prayers.

In the past two weeks all our families and staff that are relocating have moved from Donegal to Roscommon. We are so grateful to Wesley Ballantine, Maarten Mulder and all our other neighbours and friends who help greatly with the move. All, apart from Roberta in our office, have found housing.
We are all still unpacking boxes and trying to find our way around. Schools start very soon so that will be another major challenge for many of our children so we would greatly appreciate your prayers. Whatever about the parents all of this relocation is huge for the kids.

Yesterday we also had our farewell for Jonny and Sheila Lindsay who have served so faithfully with us for the past 5 years. We love them so much and though so sad to see them move on we are excited to see how the Lord has been leading them to work with Solas publishing!! please do remember to pray for them and Isaac.

Our offices in Donegal and Dublin are now closed.
Our new address is :

At the moment we have set up a temporary office on site but it is only until our proper offices are complete. Hopefully we can finish them by the end of August but there is so much still to do and we really need help.
Right now we praise the Lord for our on site project manager, Bill Holden. Bill is an amazing man. At 74yrs he comes with many years experience and is a real answer to prayer. He is overseeing the work and is very much hands on as well. So much has already been accomplished and it's very exciting.

Last week we were so blessed to have Robert MCready (McCready Electrical) from Letterkenny in Co Donegal who volunteered his own personal time to come down with two of his apprentices to help us do the electrical wiring for the offices. They were joined by David Gardner from Dublin who also graciously volunteered to co-ordinate and help ... what an amazing blessing it was to have these guys and to see all that they were able to accomplish in the few days they were here.

They all stayed here at Lacken House and we enjoyed great fellowship every evening. They plan to come back next week so do please pray for them.

Right now we have some more major needs:
  • We need SCAFFOLDING

  • We need a 6 ton DIGGER (ASAP) (you may have one or even know a farmer who has one and may be willing to let us use it for a while)

  • We need sand and cement

  • We need a skip for waste

  • We need at least two CARPENTERS

  • We need plumbing materials and a PLUMBER

  • We need anyone willing to come and help with manual labour

  • We need to see more FINANCES released to pay for material and Lacken House

  • We really need your PRAYERS.

Our new year team members arrive at end of August and so we really want to get as much done as we can. We then still have the sewage system, the apartments and other work to do.

This morning I was reading Isaiah 65:24 and Matthew 6:24-33 and the promise that God answers even while we are praying. We have so many needs but we also have an amazing God who can meet every need that we have. Therefore I can rest in the knowledge that I am called to be faithful and to trust Him. The rest is up to Him for He is in charge, this is His.

So as you can see there certainly is lots happening here at Lacken House. We invite you to drop in if you are in the area to see for yourself what God is doing here in the heart of Ireland.
